This is my ‘79 Record Ace that I obtained from the original owner about three years ago. Up until my purchase of the bike it had been hanging in a climate controlled garage for 25 years or more. As you can tell-it survived beautifully. The 64cm measurement of the seat tube is approximate from a standard inch conversion as is the 57cm measurement for the top tube. Measurements of the seattube is from center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube. The top tube is approximated between the center of the head tube to center of the seat tube. The stand over height at the top of the top tube is right at 35” when the bike is fully upright. Just before these photos were taken I went through the bike and cleaned and polished the chrome and went for a ride on it-which was always my issue as this bike is a tad large for my comfort. The 27” Kenda tires are brand new and it has fresh tubes on the original Rigida steel rims which are fairly true-although the rear could use a more expert hand than mine to get a small wobble out of the rim.. The chain was removed and solvent cleaned to remove most old grease and the rear cogs and front gears were cleaned of old grease. Some of the chrome had the start of light surface rust which was removed easily with some steel wool. I got carried away and polished the front hub. The wheel bearings and cranks spin nice and smoothly. All the original brake components are still intact and function fine. All the cables for the shifting and braking systems work just like you’d expect as the condition of the bike would display. The bike rides really nice and separate of the very nice ESGE German touring fenders and my addition of new tires, this thing is about as nice as one could expect to find as this is now 44 years old and looks all most new. There are very few paint imperfections overall on the bike. The SN is shown as well in the photos if you care to lookup old catalogs to see the specific components these were sold and equipped with. You see the original Raleigh warrantee/maintenance paperwork even survived thankfully and will go with the bike to the next owner. Ideally-this bike belongs in the hands of someone who loves these lugged Raleigh’s and will see regular miles on beautiful roads. I can send more photos if desired. The only ugly area on the bike is the very back of the seatpost which as it hung upside down in the garage was subject to the smallest water leak which left some corrosion on the seat guts and just that top part of the seatpost. I can send a photo of it if needed. This bike is in Union Grove, Wi 53182 and is available for pickup or a local delivery within 100 miles to keep from having to be disassembled and boxed up.
