Phosphates are a primary nutrient or food source for algae. If you starve algae of this important food source, it cannot grow. Organic contaminates include, sunscreens & suntan lotions, body oils, sweat, cosmetics etc. Phosphates enter your pool from a variety of sources, including: lawn & garden fertilizers, chemicals & cleaners, rainwater & fill water, decaying vegetation…and the list goes on. These phosphates build-up in your pool water, providing a necessary food source and bloom environment for algae. Typically, algae is treated with harsh chemicals like algaecides or other sanitizing products. This is where PHOSfree shines. Natural Chemistry’s PHOSfree continually removes phosphates as they enter the water, keeping phosphate levels to near zero. This allows normal sanitizer levels to prevent algae growth. Phosfree is formulated from lanthanum (rare earth) compounds. When added to the skimmer, a thin coating of Phosfree forms on the filter media. As pool water flows through the filter, phosphates are reduced to a very low level. Most effective way to remove phosphates prior to using a weekly maintenance product Works in the filter (no clouding of the pool water) Directions for use: This product is designed for use in properly balanced pool water. Clean or backwash filter. Determine appropriate dose. Shake bottle well prior to application. With circulation pump running, add dose to skimmer. Run filter for 48 hours continuously without backwashing or cleaning. After 48 hours of filtering, clean/backwash filter. Retest phosphate levels, and if necessary, repeat steps 1-5. For DE & Cartridge Filters: Do not add more than 1.5L (48oz) at a time. If more than 1.5L (48oz) is needed to treat, be sure to clean or backwash the filter between treatments. Dosage Chart: Dose per 10,000 gallons (38,000L) Note: If DE filter pressure rises to 10psi above start-up pressure, turn pump off for 1 minute and then turn it back on. If pressure remains high, backwash or rinse for 30 seconds.
