Up for sale is: An open box but mint condition Weta Workshop Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith Environment Statue. The statue was inspected after it was first received directly from Weta New Zealand in 2016, but was then immediately repacked and stored with care in an air-conditioned room until July 2024, when the pics shown in this listing were taken. The Minas Tirith – Great Citadel of Gondor statue stands 8.3 inches (21 cm) tall on a base which measures 18.1 inches (46 cm) wide x 12.2 inches (31 cm) deep. Weta’s polystone statue of the White City is large enough to show off many of the details of the buildings and brickwork of Minas Tirith which the much smaller mass-produced model released a decade earlier could not. Unlike many earlier Weta environments, Minas Tirith has only had an open edition release. The shipping box shows a carton number of 504 of 800 and is from the initial production run preordered in 2015 and shipped in 2016. As mentioned, it was opened and inspected upon receipt but was then immediately repacked, never displayed, and only briefly opened again to take the pictures for this listing. Like most open edition pieces, Weta eventually discontinued sales of Minas Tirith (in 2017) but, unusually, announced a new production run in 2023. However, we have seen a lot more complaints about the quality control problems such as poor paint apps with the current run than with the earlier release, so rest assured this one is from the initial run which was produced and shipped in 2016-2017. As you can see from the pics, this Minas Tirith statue is in perfect condition. The art box is also in very good shape, and everything will be packed in the original Weta New Zealand shipping box.
